I am really curious. Who said Pokemon was dead? There's a difference between expecting a decline and saying it's dead.

Well we always have those miracle predictors :0 (like i did with 3DS sales for 2013 lol)
Anyway i think he exaggerated a little. But many people did think pokemon would decline a huge margin. I made about 3-4 threads on predictions for pokemon XY. A couple of People have predictions about 14mil-18mil lifetime (with about some thinking 18mil+ but i wont say names), then you have your people who think since pokemon declined before this game would be very low due to 3DS sales being nowhere near DS sales.
There was only 2 people i remember off the top of my head that predicted it would sell very very bad at about 4mil-5mil due to BW2 sales (in which people dont understand logic, its like saying FFX remake sales with the original) and there were a good number of them that said anywhere between 7mil-10mil. (funny thing is even if it did sell 5-8mil lifetime it be a huge profit  $$$)
This guy DaveJ in which i won my bet but never visited the site for months lost to a bet pokemon wouldn't sell 8mil this year and said pokemon XY will sell no more than 10mil lifetime cuz of the huge decline.
*he owes me 4 months of sig control lol

Yeah, and many thought it would become the best selling Pokemon game and bring the franchise back to Red/Blue sales levels.
Still, 7-10m predictors aren't saying Pokemon was dead...

yeah like maybe 1 guy said that(close to the original games), anyway people with crazy predictions were anywhere between 20mil-23mil. There were more that said 7mil-10mil. (*and 2 people who said 4-5mil)
You cant defend those people that said it (even though i agree with you on 7mil-10mil is nowhere dead, just a big decline) cuz some of them said it wax dying/dead and continue to do it with every new series!
