Nope, it won't come close to the PS2, for the following reasons...
1: The PS2 didn't have much competition
2: The PS2 had a year and a half lead on the competition.
3: It was a heckuva lot cheaper than the PS4 ($299 dropped to $199 not too long after the GC launched).
4: The home console market in Japan isn't as strong as it was during the PS1/2 days.
5: PS2 had a virtual monopoly on 3rd party franchises and exclusives... no longer the case.
