- 3,000,000 = 57,692 consoles per week.
- Week 5 this year has done 48,244 with nothing being released yet for 2014.
- Total for 2014 so far is about 254k (I split week 1) with 4.5 weeks of data, which would give it an average so far of 56,400 per week.
So Pachter wants us to believe that in 2014 with the release of Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Bayonneta 2, Hyrule Warriors, X, Yoshi's Yarn and whatever else Nintendo have on the way that sales are going to stay completely stagnant. That's an average so that would mean next holiday season it will only sell 57k per week, when last year it sold 230k with just SM3DW. It's just a shitty prediction. I have my A.A. in business and am working on my bachelor's and can analyze that prediction for 3 minutes and tell you it is a garbage prediction. With all of the games that we already know of being released this year the Wii U will do no less then 5.5 million,
350k per week in the five big holiday weeks = 1.75 million
79,800 per week on average for the other 47 weeks = 3.75 million
A 120k bump per holiday week + a 20k per normal week bump with all of that software coming out is still a pretty conservative estimate. I have no clue if Pachter is just anti-Nintendo or he is just doesn't get it. My only explanation for that type of number is this.....Mario Kart = SM3DW, Smash Bros = Wind Waker, Donkey Kong = Pikmin, Hyrule Warriors = Wii Party U, Xenoblade = Lego City Undercover, which is ridiculous.
