Not really Carl, thats an opinion on Sony's marketing message.. that hasnt got anything to do with the end user and why people are buying it. Carl believes that the console is hyped (OTT), many people would disagree... don't see a problem with that...regardless of the tag line, they got more on message than MS did (who royally screwed it up and more so than Nintendo did with the Wii-u). When you have one console not meeting the end users requirements, and the other meeting it, it's not difficult to see that the end user will gravitate towards the positive product that is more powerful and cheaper.
Some users use the tag line on forums etc, maybe to goad other console users, but who cares... that's not why they purchased the console. Of course there is hype to some extent, isnt there hype on all products...but its no wii hype. I saw many users being hyped by the XboxOne.. Ryse best looking console game, Knack is shit. None of that matters really. If the product meets the users needs and people want it, it generates hype.
What is rubbish is that when Sony didnt have any bad news, how sites became anti sony just to have a "balanced" argument. It was like they were a bit worried they were slating MS too much (seen this from the press on the Wii-u at times). "Sony will have DRM", "Sony will have online activation".. "Sony has hardware problems"... lets not believe that the PR has all been one way. Let's not forget the whole resolution gate, how two companies provided the same game resolutions to two games at reviews (even though Sony had higher res on launch with Day 1 patch). Or how Sony got slated for a 2 day review event or not giving internet people a free console.
@kowenicki I personally don't think your original message/post actually made a good argument for or against the original post....it's like a hit and run... which never goes down well with VG users. I wouldnt worry too much about some fun banter..sometimes it goes a little too far, but on the whole its not that bad... seriously i've been on much worse forums, this place is pretty civil.
I would say maybe try not to post one/two liners, and engage with the topic (provide more detail on your reasons). I am sure even if people disagree with your comments, at least more reasoning makes it a more interesting topic.
