Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it's 3 mil. All of the major retailers in my area, Walmart, Future Shop, E.B. Games, all have significantly reduced the WiiU's shelf space recently.. What used to be prominent, looks like it's dying a slow death in the stores around here.

They have but they won't abandon it, not with the lineup that Nintendo has on the way.  Games like Mario Kart have been consistant sellers for the retailers for years on end, while most of the other games they have to price drop very quickly just to get rid of them.   Even though the Wii U is struggling, retailers especially in the U.S. won't dump it.  In 2013 alone Nintendo  consoles had 29 games in the top 100 and 7 in the top 20.  Dumping the Wii U now when you know that Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros are coming is just flushing money down the toilet.  If those don't sell great then I could see them abandoning it, but until then it would just be a bad business move.
