No amount of PR, fairy dust id going to make up a 40-50% gpu advantage. These devs are just putting their PR hats on, as many devs said the opposite. But keep cherry picking, the proof is in the pudding, which we have seen big advantages for PS4.

The devs in he OP are talking about adapting and learning now and in the future....

On that basis can I borrow your time machine... winter is getting me down.

The truth of the matter is, is of course Devs releasing on multiple platforms are not really *allowed* to say (and wouldnt) that one platform is better than another. Because they want both sets of users to buy the game, they don't want to dismiss users of any platform. If they were releasing on Wii-u, they wouldn't turn around and say it was the poorer hardware, they would say exactly the same kind of things.

The reality is that the two machines being based on PC specs are actually unlikely to significantly change in terms of performance. While programmers improve the XBO SDK's, the same will be happening on PS4. So no one needs a time machine, its quite obvious that there will be a performance gap and that gap even if they find ways around the 32MB ram problem, will not on the whole fix the gap between the two machines.

As for Rebellion, yes it is PR, but would anyone expect anything said differently? I wouldnt. You never know when you might need the platform holder later on :)

And yet they do, often, and when its a dev saying the opposite... well, then it gets a thread and a thousand champions.

VGC eh?  love it.

Not on the whole they don't, it's considered a poor show to dismiss any platform you release on..

Most try and stick to a very carefully worded reply... both look great, you wont notice any difference.. etc. On the whole without mentioning FPS/Resolution (I guess this gen that question has suddenly become the norm to ask, as I dont recall it being such a big question last gen). Though the message is more likely to go off piste if it's not a company getting free PR from said company.

Those that do say something, its usually taken out of context by the internet (I will give you that)... but let's be fair here, if one game is 720p and the other is 1080p, that is a massive difference.

Now when it's a dev saying the opposite to what we already know - i.e the PS4 is a much stronger hardware spec, then i think its fair to ask the question, why are they saying that (this is an internet forum after all). It definately be possible for games to be run at the same locked FPS and the same resolution, but that does not suddenly mean that one console has suddenly closed the performance gap. That is because companies might decide that as much as they need to do to get the game out of the door. Though this will all depend on how much work companies put into their game engines, and if one console becomes the lead console, they are more likely to do that which could actually increase the gap further.
