That's the thing tho, the regions where the X1 hasn't launched yet are places that Microsoft pretty much deemed to be unwinnable anyway where as both Sony and Ms have their big apology launch in Japan to happen still but I think the Japanese market will appreciate and understand the agressive launch Sony had by launching in their rivals strongest region first.

I don't think your average Japanese consumer will "understand" that Sony had to do what they did to get a stronger foothold in the USA.

But neither will they particularly care.  PS4 will do what it will do in Japan, which should be strong launch -> weak sales following launch -> boosted sales once the big hitters (Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts/Resident Evil etc.) arrive.  It'll be fine in the long term but in the short term I don't think it'll do much in Japan.

X1, on the other hand.  Microsoft haven't really said or shown anything to appeal to the Japanese market other than that quote from a while ago which was something along the lines of "we have Japanese games in development, I swear!"  It'll be interesting to see when they release in Japan and what titles will be there at launch.

@bold they had a ton of great Japanesque games for the xbox360 but it really didn't make anyone in that region hate that system any less. Japanese gamers just generally dislike western stuff, doesn't matter if it's games or systems they just tend to stick with their own stuff. I really think that any efforts MS make in that region rather than say trying to win Europe are gonna be wasted.
