He was talking about the actual console sales were the reason. Ps+ really has nothing to do with the argument.

What he said was that the PS4 is the first Sony console that made them profit in its first quarter, he never said it was only because of console sales. When he said "record breaking launch of the PS4" I'm pretty sure he meant everything that came with that launch, so the console, software, accessory and of course PS+ sales.
