It depends on if a Japanese company makes something simliar, like for instance I never heard of a Japanese chicken resturant so that's maybe why KFC does well there. Also look at Apple, most Japanese made phones are not that great and Apple has the biggest market share there. |
Well, if a new product/brand doesn't having any compelling advantage to offer, why switch? That's basic all over the world.
Somebody was citing things like "Consumer Reports" high ratings conflicting with Japanese sales.
In fact, such reports are often skewed to particular culture's priorities, and you can see that in car reviews and ratings.
VW is a very solidly esteemed brand in Europe considered to be reliable, etc, while in the US it is ranked low on reliability.
Same cars, made in same factories in most cases (less so more recently). But US definitions of 'reliability' aren't identical with EU ones,
in the US they will consider things to be problems that aren't seen to matter in EU, and vice versa in the EU.
Doesn't change that the rule of selling a product is: make the customer happy. Not complain tht the customer is deficient.
