For example, I sunk 100s of hours into GTA3 on PS2, but would I go back to ever play it? With the likes of GTA5 out, not a chance.

It's a little different from Netflix, where you have entire seasons which are chronological in story line that you'd want to watch. Video media is different to games because it is a passive past time. So while you would be willnig to go back and watch Groundhog Day again, like most people you won't play DMC1 because it's a  "been there done that" kind of deal.

That is my prediction. PS NOW won't appeal because people are not that interested in paying to play such old titles.

I honestly think that the backlog for PS1/2/3 is big enough that people won't be able to 'catch up'.  Heck, I've had a PS3 since launch and there are probably still enough games I haven't played that could keep me occupied for years.

But we shall see, you may be right.  I think that the cost is going to be a huge factor (duh) because people have gotten used to streaming service prices.  Netflix is $8 while Spotify is $10.  If they come out of the gate with a $20 price tag I don't think its going to fly.

EDIT: Some more thoughts I had:  These streaming services let people be more adventurous with their entertainment choices.  I have watched so many movies on netflix that I would have NEVER paid to see in the theater or on DVD.  The risk is taken out because if I don't like it I didn't waste any money.  I think that the same thing will happen with PS Now, where people will start playing games they may never have paid for, and thus "opens up" the catologue of games.  So not only will people play the hits, but they will also play the average games.  "Oh I would have never paid money to play 'Rage', but since there is no risk I'll give it a try"
