Note a lot of Nintendo fans in particular said Twlight Princess on Wii was a crazy idea and would never happen because Nintendo would never, ever release a Zelda for Wii unless it was made from the ground up for Wii, Zelda is a special snowflake, GameCube fans have loyally waited 2 years for this game, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Money (or more accurately profit potential) talks. Looking at in hindsight releasing TP only on the GameCube would've been a monumentally stupid move on Nintendo's part.
Not only could did TP launch with Wii but Nintendo didn't even release the GCN version day and date at launch, which had to be like a slap in the face to some GameCube owners ... people got over it, Nintendo sold probably 2x as many copies of the game as they would have otherwise.
