I understand that when first place, since pretty much all items that you get you can use them as shield, only the blue shell were a threat. Remember that feeling when you got powerlessly hit by a blue shell? Well get ready to feel this feeling a whole lot more with red shell now. But it may not be as bad as we think depending on balance. You still get the triple shell, bannanas and the tanooki tail as protection(assuming the tanooki tail is back)... And maybe some new items we dont know about. If they make it that you have a much higher chance of getting the bannanas or tanooki when your in first place, it should balance things perfectly between being powerless to bad luck all the time and the always shielded that was in MK7. |
Like Rol was saying, you can still block Red Shells by dropping an item behind you at the right time, so you're not exactly powerless, it just takes more effort to defend yourself now.
