It sold.... poorly. But ethomaz said it sold, not that it was exceptional.

They killed it with fire!! But no it was not a good move and probably the reason why sony didnt go with a psp 2 name but vita as it the go hurt the brand name

I have to agree it wasn't a good move (more because of the implementation way than because of the idea)... not sure about the second part because PSP still sold better than PSVita for quite a long time "despise the tarnish in the name".
