Well they have to do something to turn a profit.  If I was a high shareholder I'd be demanding Nintendo to renegotiate their parts deals to lower the console costs.  Nintendo is paying too much for their manufacturing.

These may work on the 3DS, but not on the Wii U, and on top of this, there's nothing coming up for Wii U in Japan from 3rd parties, so what's he going to localize? All of Nintendo's first party games have made it everywhere so far and nothing announced has a risk not to do it.

You have a point he doesn't say Wii U at all just an overall idea.  More games = more consumer choice so we should be happy if he follows through.
