DLC is definitely a feature, particularly for multiplayer focused games like CoD, where additional maps are released, with maps being central to the multiplayer experience. Why buy a game on the WiiU when it's not going to get ongoing support on other platforms? I believe online clans were also missing. Ghosts also suffers from Black Ops 2's smaller multiplayer user base.

If DLC wasn't a feature, why would Sony bother with exclusive DLC content?

only 30%  of buyers actually buy the DLC for any giving game, you know you have to pay EXTRA for that feature right? Any thing you pay extra for cant be called a feature. Online clans? people barely bought the game, hence no clans. YOu can blame small userbase on people NOT buying the game. YOu cant have MP user base if no one buys it and none of this even applies to AC4, i wonder what excuse you'll use when Watchdogs sells far below any other version.

Sony and MS both get exclusive or timed DLC that has nothing to do with anything. matter of fact it only makes my point stronger, if DLC was that important as you claim why do PS3 or 360 versions still sell comparitively despite one version may miss DLC? Only logical conclusion is it isnt important at all.

Interestingly, Assassin's creed 4 sold more on both the PS3 and PS4 compared to the Xbox360 (by 270k) and Xbone (by 620k, over double) respectively. Perhaps the exclusive content was a feature that drew more sales.

Wow! DLC costs money? Amazing. I never knew. I believe that the exclusive DLC for Assassin's Creed 4 was free though. For an online-multiplayer-centric game, the fact that some do buy a game for the promise of additional content over a version that doesn't have it, is a factor to take into account, regardless of whether you are personally interested in the content, as this can affect the number of online users. Plus, it's nice to have options, you never know what will be released. With all other things being equal, why chance missing out on something you may like?

Don't forget that the Wii U just came out of a software drought, with a handful of first party software being launched just prior to Mario 3D World releasing around the same time as both Ghosts and AC4. Th PS4 and XBone, on the other hand, didn't have as many first party titles to contend with (with Ghosts being the highest-selling game on each platform). While there is a great difference in sales to the Wii U version, I think in this case there are more variables at play than simply "Third party games don't sell on Wii U".

I actually think that Watch_Dogs should be one of the multiplat games to watch to see how third party on WiiU really sells, as long as it has parity on features, release date and price, and especially if the gamepad is properly utilised. As the gamepad lends itself so well to the core mechanic of Watch_Dogs, we could very well see the WiiU version as the definitive version of the game, despite it not being as graphically strong as the PS4/Xbone versions.

Another multiplat game to watch is Project CARS, which is being developed to actually properly use the WiiU hardware for its version. By the time Watch_Dogs and Project CARS are released, the PS4 and Xbone should each have more quality titles to compete with within their own platforms, making their situation more similar to the Wii U's.

ps4 beat had more sales than xone, hence that version would do more. As for PS360 AC games have been doing better on that system for a while. And its not like the PS3 version sold that much better. you make it seem like it was a huge difference. Its like 100k more? (ill have to check) if it was at a mil or something you would be on to something

fair enough. But my issue is acting like it would have made a huge difference it wouldnt have. THere are not that much people who care enough that it would make a difference. Besides if you have the option to buy COD on anyting but the WIi U then why buy it for that system? and if you dont, does it make that much of a difference?

The software drought confounds me. If it was such a drought, why did no one buy games. Why is BLops 2 still under 250k? a MAIN COD game sold that little with little competition? Yeah im gonna go with that they were just not interested. Plenty of games to buy for WIi U, very little actually did. what varibles? Ninty gamers priotize Ninty games? nothing wrong with that but that just reinforces 3rd party games dont sell argument. Dont care if PS4 or xone had little in the way of competition we are talking more expensive lauch titles that beat out a system that was already on the shelves for a year.

notice the one watchdogs game that ISNT on the preorder charts. It is the one to watch when it sells the worst of the bunch i wonder what people will say then? And no titles availble on PS4 or xone have little to do with it. People on those systems WANT the game, as evident by the preorders and hype, cant say that much for WIi U at least not yet
