It'd be a tough sell, considering how my 3DS is satisfying my handheld needs, but I can see it happening. However, some of several requirements would likely have to be met.

  • A price cut for memory. Considering how big VIta games are and the large digital focus, I'd like either cheaper prices for memory cards or for bigger ones to be available at the same price. Whatever is easier.
  • A software shortage in other parts of my gaming life. The 3DS in particular could have few new games at some point, which would make justifying a Vita purchase much easier.
  • PS4 ports. I know, ports aren't system sellers, but if I only had to buy $200 of hardware to play Kingdom Hearts 3 rather than $400, that'd make buying a Vita a whole lot more alluring.
  • A new model. The current Vita is fine for all my needs, but I wouldn't mind getting a handheld with a damn good battery life.
  • Some great bundle.
  • A guarantee that the platform will be supported for years to come.

Not all of these factors are necessary, but depending on the circumstances, I may not be able to get a Vita even with all these factors. This is just some of what I'd like to see before buying one.
