Not at all. I was baffled myself after spending time with the game as to how this game received so much praise. I never liked this 'fusion' of 3d/2d Mario's kick, crusade that Miyamoto has been on for the past 3 games. Using directional pad for a 3D game does feel off, as does the running.
Malstrom isn't wrong imo, in his views about 3D/2D Mario, and this game proves it. A good game should be good from the start, you shouldn't have to stick with it, if it feels like a chore. I think 3D World looks great, but all that glitters ain't gold. And it isn't selling the hardware, which is the primary purpose of first party software.
If you and your wife aren't having fun playing the game together, then there's obviously an issue with the game. You had a great time with NSMBU/Wii, so that should tell you something.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
