Mario Kart and Smash saved the GCN from getting Dreamcasted, they could keep Wii U's head above water long enough for it to turn a profit and leg it out to its successor's launch.

But theres only Mario Kart, GCN at the time was cheaper as by the time mk and smash released it had already seen a price drop to help with sales, what youre going to see is a large portion of the smash sales occur on the 3DS version, basically how its going to play out until the end of the WiiU is.

  • Userbase slowly increases with minor spikes for major first party titles.
  • Because nintendo dont want to lose money a lot of WiiU titles will be released on 3DS too, detracting from WiiU's sales
  • Third party titles will continue to have dismal sales
  • Continued delays for first part titles on the WiiU and people just giving up with it

The WiiU will be lucky to match the GCN's sales in its lifetime, meanwhile the 3DS has to keep things going until Nintendo can feasably re-approach the industry with a new product people actually want, and are excited for.
