if I read and recall the report corrcectly the wii-u numbers went from 450k-ish sold to 2.8mill for the year. Now you could argue that it's just the holiday effect, but personally I feel the wii-u would've been in real trouble had 3dworld not released. Maybe closer to sub 1mill sales for the year. Anyone thinking 3dworld would have made the console hit the 9mill mark had their expectations waaaay to high in my opinion.
