Let me expand on a few of these points a little as well.
... Microsoft have made their intentions clear with Xbox One, right down to the name and the UI. They intend the system to have mass-appeal and double as an all-in-one entertainment system. Sony has pitched PS4 as an out-and-out gaming machine with the most power, best graphics and so on. At the moment, the early adopters are going PS4 for these reasons but when the semi-casuals start to upgrade from their current PS360 then I can't help but feel that Microsoft will gain ground. Most won't be bothered about slightly better graphics on CoD but more interested in a machine that can do everything they want. Ultimately, the PS brand is stronger in Europe and Xbox in America and it comes down to which platform appeals most to the people who jump on board in years 2-3 that will matter a lot more than who is jumping on board now. It is going to be an extremely interesting generation and I am looking forward to watching how things pan out.

What can the XBONE do that the PS4 can't? The big things at the moment are suspend/resume, snapping, and TV in. Are casuals going to really want to spend $40 more just for those features and Kinect tracking when the PS4 is better in every other way? Also suspend/resume is coming and snapping would be very possible to port to PS4. If you are correct about casuals really valuing those features, Sony can implement all of them very quickly except HDMI in.
