Really? That's interesting, wonder why? |
Possibly due to UK gaming history being less orientated towards consoles. The first majorly successful console was PlayStation, but before that, home computer systems ruled the roost. I'd hypothesise tablets/smartphones are closer to that kind of gaming than anything else. Nintendo haven't had historical strength or success in the UK, like they have in Japan/North America in particular, which keeps different generations buying their hardware/software, so they've struggled in the UK relative to other markets. Particularly when you consider much of Wii and DS's success in the UK came from new titles like Wii Fit, Just Dance, Wii Sports, Brain Training, Professor Layton and Nintendogs.
The market for Nintendo machines in the UK, I would suggest, is more in line with what Nintendo's expanded audience wanted, because Nintendo don't have much of a core audience here.
