Because it still sold greatly and was the main reason people bought the NES. And let's be honest here, that game changed the face of gaming forever.

tut tut tut tut tut... yeah that music on level 1 is still one of the most memorable gaming music.... even after years after its release.... it is not only praised by the numbers but by the gameplay.
