These people expect you to buy new TVs every 5 years. That's the lifecycle I use for other disposable electronics such as laptops and mobiles. TVs should last at least 10 years.
720p is enough for a mobile, some apparently need 1080p.
1080p is fine for a laptop, during fall they've already started with QHD+ laptops.
1080p is also fine for small-mid TVs, 4K for big ass ones.
It obviously depends on content, I still consume SD media on my fullHD screens, don't care and it's good enough.
