I agree with and HOPE that your first part is correct. The 2nd part, not so much. :p However, if anybody else has noticed, Sakurai has consistently been revealing characters for Smash Bros. on the Japanese release dates of games in their respective franchises. Zelda was revealed when A Link Between Worlds came out in Japan. King Dedede was revealed when Kirby Triple Deluxe came out in Japan. So, I would BET that when Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze comes out in Japan, we'll get confirmation of Diddy Kong returning.
