No only that, but PowerPC technology is more efficient than x86. One core of a PowerPC is worth 2 cores of an x86 So to put that in perspective. If you look at the fact that the Wii U has 3 CPUs with 6 cores between them that would be an equivalent to 12 cores of an x86.

So... why doesn't Nintendo's first party stuff look as good as Sony or Microsoft's?

They do. It's just the art style makes you not realize how beautiful it really is. Microsoft and Sony try to make a lot of games that look like realistic real life. Nintendo recognizes that people enjoy seeing different things other than what we see in real life when we play video games, so they make visually pleasing and unique art styles.
Unique and creative art style > Realistic, repetitive, and boring art style.
