Online with the Wii: How does it work?

Correct.  This is possibly the mother of all non-problems; if you're about to start a game with someone and they haven't added you back yet, just have them add you and then start the game.

@DMeisterJ: Yes, it's sort of like having a separate gamertag for each game.  It would be nicer if the games could just use the friends listed in your Wii address book as your friends list, and I don't know why they didn't do it that way.  I don't know why you would want someone to be able to send you messages and Miis but not be able to send you online game invitations or vice-versa.
