1. It's available in Europe and the US already.
2. AFAIK the pro controller can be used to turn on the WiiU and load a game, then play pro controller-compatible games.
3. There are no games out yet that can use 2 gamepads. Initially, it would have been a waste of resources to have standalone gamepads in stores, when they needed to maximise the number of complete consoles available. Now, it would just add to the confusion that still surrounds the Wii U, and would likely lead to many unhappy uninformed customers who shelled out $150 on an extra gamepad they can't/won't use. If your gamepad breaks, call Nintendo for a replacement.
