Front page shows 5.0 million as of dec 21st. Looks like my low end prediction of 5.5 by January 1st 2014 will come true (week ending dec 28th + 1/2 of week ending Jan 4th numbers).
That means Nintendo will need to sell 7.5 million more before their fiscal year ends if they hope to meet their prediction for the fiscal year. In other words, it's going to be a blood bath.
"Nintendo previously announced that it's aiming to sell 9 million Wii Us worldwide during its 2014 fiscal year (which concludes on March 31, 2014). Nintendo sold160,000 systems in the first quarter and 300,000 units in the second quarter. Added to this new 222,000, this means Nintendo would need to sell an additional 8.3 million Wii Us before the end of March in order to reach its goal, or between 2.0-2.1 million consoles per month in December, January, February and March." http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/12/13/nintendo-has-to-sell-11-million-wii-us-a-month-to-reach-its-goal
Since the Wii U has failed to sell 500,000 a week through December, that means that now the Wii U needs to sell closer to 550,000 a week for the next three months straight.
