I bought Cube as an impulse buy, one of the best surprises in movies. The second one wasn't all that great though, third one made up for it a bit. The first one remains a classic. |
The Hypercube was a horrible, horrible attempt of "sci-fying" the series. I loved some of the death scenes, but the overall concept was poor. I loved Cube Zero though, explained a lot of the psychological breakdowns of the characters of the first movie, plus it gave a good perspective from the people behind the scenes watching the cube.
And yeah, Metropolis is not an easy movie to watch, it's a silent movie after all, but if you dwelve into the technical processes of the movie, then it might get your attention, even if the story does not. I dare say that it took almost 50 year for another movie to, at least, match it's techincal achievements.
