TVii (with TV Tag) explained: The Wii U controller becomes your TV remote. Just touch a pic of your favorite show and the Wii U will turn to it (if set up properly). From there, you get a play by play of your favorite show to discuss with other TVii users. It also has little polls, random facts, etc. I think they updated sports events so that you can interact more but I don't really watch sports. It will also find shows on Netflix.
Setting up 3DS and Wii U: Make sure you're using your Nintendo ID and not your nickname. I think you can reset your 3DS if you set up the 3DS before setting up you Wii U. Do the Wii U first and then link ID's.

Cons
-Small HDD (I had to buy another for $50)
-Much weaker hardware than the competition
-Not nearly as many apps as the competition, even the PS3 and 360
-slow user interface...and it used to be slower!
-slim offerings on the eShop, even after a year
-doesn't upscale Wii games at all (So why do people keep disagreeing with me on this!?)
-No quick messaging system/game invites compared to the competition
