| Wyrdness said: Can someone please explain to me what this health care controversy in the USA is exactly because from the distance it sounds like the same thing we have here in the UK (NHS) which is a good thing, with the NHS you have mandaotory health care and you pay for it in your taxes but no matter what comes up you're entitled to treatment no matter how severe your condition. Having close friends and family being treated for horrid conditions like Cancer and so on with out being hit with huge bills really hits home and the NHS is one of the reasons it's difficult for people here to leave as it makes a huge difference. |
Rich people (like maybe as low as $50,000 a year) have to pay a little more base on how hi their income is, they will have to pay even more.
You can't be turn down for pre-existing conditions.
Low income people get a coupon for a free government discount where the federal government pays some of their Health Care, and the low income person pays what they can afford.
Lower income people get free healthcare via Medicaid (free gov. Health insurance).
Some states are denying the free Medicaid part of the program thanks to the Federal Supreme Court ruling allowing so.
Each State was responsible for their own state's website to sign up, some states have screwed this up.
Health insurance premiums have already gone down and will go even further down.
People just hate "Poor" people in America.
There has always been a lot of hatred towards poor people in America, and this is just bringing it out. For example Fox News Channel
