that 500k number was never official. but you would think that PS4 wouldnt just beat XB1 numbers in "other" countries by just 1k on the week PS4 launched in 11 more countries. 

I know it was a leak, but it would make sense for Sony to send such a massive shipment for a major launch in Asia. I'm not sure why VGC thinks Sony would only stock 20k units for that.
