There's no reason to believe that Nintendo is going beyond 720p.  None of their first party software is 1080p, and none of the screens for this game are above 720p.  In fact, if you view the screens in this thread at full size, the beauty disintegrates when everything is covered in jaggies.  Outstanding art style, but low resolution.

Bayonetta 2 is a more taxing game than MK8, and  i'ts a 1080p 60fps game.

I'm willing to bet you Bayo 2 will be 720p.
