The Wii U has never made sense to me. I loved the Wii. Loved Motion Controls, FPS shooters with a Wii Mote was amazing. I couldn't go back to dual analogue after that. The only games the Wii Mote Chuck weren't good for were fighting games (imo). Which is why a controller agnostic console is great. Pro Controller should be included with every Wii U.

But in any case, the Wii followed the NES in a lot of ways. From the new controller output to software, to affordability. It was great. Imagine if Nintendo went from the NES back to the Atari 2600 or Coleco vision type controllers for their next system. It wouldn't make sense. The NES-SNES made sense, the Wii-Wii U does not. It is a step back, sideways wherever, but its not a Wii successor.

Nintendo doesn't need 'unique' or surprises to 'win' or be successful. Back in the day Nintendo won because they had the best games. Period. They won with Wii because they had the best games that could only be found on their system. Software is the driver of hardware, and thus far the greenlit software for the Wii U hasn't done the job.

When Xmas time sales are this bad, it means that the consumers just don't care about the system. And if they don't care about the system, its because it doesn't have the games to justify its purchase.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
