| fatslob-:O said: I obviously realize that we have different opinions. This is not a matter of opinion. You are simply making an incorrect statement. Just because I don't like justin biebers music doesn't give me the right to claim it as trash because the market is in clear disagreement of my opinion. That is totally of a subjective nature. That has no bearing on the topic at hand. Sales do define quality otherwise many products wouldn't face rejection in comparison competing products. Wrong. What you said makes no sense. If sales define quality, then only top tier items should ever exist, and it would make zero sense to make any product of lower quality. When it comes to entertainment, that line becomes subjective. Just because many people like shakespeare does not mean that I am willing to agree but that also doesn't give me the right to detrack it's quality because it's what the market likes. The one who's stubborn here is you and everyone else in this forum who are full of hardcore gamers that don't get the perspective of the masses. No, I am very flexible with my viewpoint. If you were actually simply stating your opinion, that would be one thing. In this case, you're simply incorrect. Just how important do you think big budget marketing is for a game ? Minecraft got through to the market without spending a shit ton of money to get a large following. If anything this shows that you have a lack of understanding how quality is defined. Makes no sense to say I don't understand how quality is defined. A game's quality is half subjective, half objective. The half objective part is in the build of the game itself. Games that have many glitches and runs poorly is a game of objectively lower quality. However, one's enjoyment of said game is where the subjective part comes into play. Sales depicts NONE of this. A game's quality vs its sales has very little correlation. Millions of people play games that have objectively low quality build. Games with hundreds of glitches, exploits, etc. If a game isn't marketed, its chances of higher sales go down. A "bad" game, according to the masses, can get lots of sales if it is marketed well enough. The same thing could be thrown right back at you. Are all two ply toilet papers better than single ply ? Clearly not because some single ply toilet paper will match the performance at a cheaper price. No, the same thing cannot be thrown at me. I never implied all two-ply toilet paper are better than single ply. Unlike you, I know what I'm talking about. I said that if single ply toilet paper sells more than any single two-ply toilet paper brand, it doesn't mean that all single ply toilet paper is higher quality than all two-ply toilet paper. That is what your argument is like. |
