You're under the false impression that people buy things because they are looking for quality.  Not only that, but you are also under the false impression that the majority of people know exactly what they're getting into when they buy something.  It also shows your lack of knowledge of how marketing works, and why people buy anything.

If you see a trend where people buy single ply toilet paper over two-ply, would you really be under the assumption that all single ply toilet paper is better quality than two-ply?

People don't blindly act stupid and buy something they obviously don't like!  Just because you like something, doesn't mean it's high quality.  This is something you need to understand, but you're being too stubborn to. That's like saying certain shit is the best because of randomness but that isn't true because the majority have specific reasons as to why one product is better than the rest.

Marketing alone will not get a game through.  I never said that.  I said that your lack of knowledge of how marketing works is apparent by your strange position that sales numbers equate to quality.  I was saying it is a factor, not the only one.  Did you see what happened to BF4 ? That game had a higher marketing campaign than it's last iteration yet it's obviously a farcry from it's last iteration which was largely better.

That's because single ply can match the thickness of a two ply while also being cheaper to produce so there's your reason.
My sentence specifically said "all single ply toilet paper."  If you knew anything about single ply toilet paper, you know that worst single ply vs the worst two-ply, the two-ply is better in overall quality.  You clearly do not understand this topic well at all.
