PS3 250 GB = R$ 900 X360 4GB = R$ 700 (R$ 850 with Kinect) Wii = R$ 550 PS4 = R$ 4000 XOne = R$ 2200 Wii U = R$ 2200 DS = R$ 500 PSP = R$ 500 3DS = R$ 700~800 PSV = R$ 1100~1300
So it's normal for anyone to grab a PS3 or 360 instead of a 3DS or PSV. The price of games for these two is equal to PS360 game prices, so it isn't a good deal too. About piracy, it is huge on the Wii. On PS360 it is lower since it normally don't allow to play online (some 360 modded systems can actually play online even with a mod chip). It is lower on PS3 because of Blu-ray, since it requires to store the game on an external HDD and usually the download size is pretty harsh (10 to 50 GB) and the mod chips are more primitive. On 360 it is more common, but way lower than on PS2 days (when it was all the market). DS and PSP are dominated by piracy since youy only need to use a special card on DS or store games on memory cards on PSP. 3DS, Vita and the next gen home consoles don't have pirate games. But I have to say, on PS2/GC/XB days piracy was rampant. Games were expensive as hell and it was even hard to find retails stores selling games. This gen the piracy is a minor problems because: - Better console and game prices. - Better retails presence. I can buy any game or console in stores close to my home. - Online mode. Mod chips don't allow to play online or simple become a major pain (a modded 360 has a lot of problems with firmware upgrades and those are required by newer games). |
Yeah, extreme piracy tends to go when prices become more accessible.
Never thought things were like that there... strange how Vita`s price is way higher than 3DS. Here in Portugal, 3DS Xl is 199€ and Vita is going for 189€ or cheaper.
