Because it was not Zelda. Most people acted as though Reggie came out and said "Hey we are going to show Zelda U at VGX." Nintendo did not even hype this event  up at all. Anouma said that the Zelda U trailer will be revealed at E32014, but people ignored what he said and set themselves up for disappointment 

Because it's the Internet, and you can't expect people to be reasonable.

Yeah well if they were going to show Donkey KongI expected them to show more gameplay footage. No doubt this game will be great but I want to see more of the game.

They did show more gameplay footage. During the live stream.

I guess they showed that after I stopped watching watching the stream.
