I think they have a very short term plan, but they are missing the long term hype. Yes, Donkey Kong looks great and is the next game on the pipeline, but you need to get people excited about the future, many players buy their consoles for the games that will come in the future, not only the ones available right now.
This was a great opportunity to show something else, something very few gamers were aware of, like X from Monolith soft, or something really new that will show that the console has a bright future ahead and is worth buying now for what is out, but also for what is to come.
