Let's be serious here for a minute. Downplaying modern Alakazam is like making fun of an olympic silver medalist.

Alakazam is viable with a focus sash, mega alakazam can't have that. 

Oh, I thought you just meant Alakazam in general. I'm still relatively clueless on the metagame for Megas so I have no opinion there.
