Why would M$ have shipped tens or hundreds of thousands of X1s to the EU when they could already be sold here in Canada and in the U.S.? I'm sitting on a list waiting as patiently as I can but this is getting ridiculous.
I see 529 euros advertised while they can only ask $500 cdn despite our dollar falling to about .94 US. Maybe that's part of it? Todays rate cdn/eu is 1.44 so $762 cdn equivalent. That can't be right. Is the 1.44 including the banks' cut to convert it?
Maybe they thought everywhere would sell out and shorted the places where they make less money? Nah, Microsoft are good people... Part of the diff must be taxes that are included in EU. Here in NS we pay a ridiculous 15% G.S.T. after sticker price so $576 total. I'm slightly less PO.
