Neither of the ranking sites qualify Maxim as an effective review.
Check out gamerankings. At the top is says "Only bolded reviews count in the average" Even if they show maxim, it isn't averaged in.
Metacritic uses the weighted average assigning each site a value to which it can count towards the average.
That said, this game won't beat OOT nor SMG on either site, its nearly too late for that already. It could still make the top 10, but if it stays above 9.5, I'll be VERY happy, as review wise, its already one of the best games this gen.
@macross, I'm pretty sure Xplay will get it another perfect score like famitsu, lol.
