As has been said Nintendo just needs to work now on getting the games, that only they can make, out. Also marketing wouldn't hurt.
Push all the Nintendo fans into buying (MK8 and SSB should work well here), convince a solid chunk of families to dive in again (it doesn't need Wii-level appeal) and work hard at being a tantalizing second console choice for all those who start the generation with and XB1 or PS4.
It can still find its place but it needs Nintendo to be on their A-game from this point out.
