Doing it with a hybrid technique like with the first PS3s makes more sense than putting a whole PS3 in there.
Basically if Sony planned this from the beginning and put a Cell chip on the board, they'd be able to emulate the other components. Would have been a HUGE pain in the butt though.
Best you can hope for now is Gaikai working great or PS3 classics eventually finding their way onto PSN.
