Goes for plenty of consoles really, Sal.  I don't think there was any good reason to buy a PS2; PS3 or Wii-U at launch.  Yet millions of people did; presumably because of "future investments".

The PS2 and PS3 were the cheapest DVD and Blu-Ray players on the market at the time of their respective launches, so there was that. And the Wii U at least had a new 2D Mario, aka a new entry in one of the most popular gaming series ever.

I dunno, I can make an excuse for most consoles being worth getting at launch if you're into some certain type of tech or game (I think the Vita, Wii U, 3DS, and Xbone all had sufficent launches in their own way), but I honestly don't get the PS4.

To preserve my sanity, I'm just going to assume that people just wanted to play a 1080p FPS and don't realize that PC's exist. That makes more sense than everyone being excited for Infamous: Second Son IMO.
