GC had the power to support any and all3rd party games and they still got lackluster support. gc fate with third parties was sealed before the whole kiddy thing set in.
you keep talking about the nes as if, like ms or sony consoles, 3rd party games are are the biggest reason it sold so well. yet, like i keep pointing out, nintendo games are what dominate the sales chart. like the other nintendo consoles after it, nintendo games are the primary reasin nes sold like it did. |
There was a space trade off to the graphical power of the GC. Nintendo refused to adopt CD's and that bit them in the ass out of fear of piracy and the same went for DVD's. They wanted to use a format no one was using. DVD's could hold much more content than the GC could. Nintendo games are amazing, but half or more of their market would respond to their third party compared to their competition if only Nintendo would work with third parties. Nintendo is creating a closed off disney-esque world that closes itself off to competition and they forget who they were and also what helped make them as big as they are. Thats exactly the same Nintendo that made the Wii without consulting third parties...and its the same Nintendo that regretted not making as much on third party as their competitors and then made a console that was slightly higher than last gen right at the end of that generation without consulting with third parties as to their aspirations. Now they have to buy games like Bayonetta and other titles to keep their ranks fresh.
