People talking up the European market clearly don`t understand what is going on in Europe at the moment. France and the whole of southern Europe is in Perma slump. This is PS country. Most of the high volume console sales in this region have come at the lower price points. This is one of the main reasons the original wii sold so well in Europe because it was relatively cheap.
PS will have the highest overall market share in Europe just like it does with the PS3. But its market base is very price sensitive. At 450 euros for for the console and a game I will be very surprised if the Ps4 sells as strongly in Europe at launch as the states.
MS have cherry picked the best customers, those that buy multiple titles and subscribe to live. Their console costs more but in the long run its going to appeal to a wider market. They are strong in the stronger economies like the UK, Scandinavian countries and Germany. Higher disposable incomes. They wont sell the numbers in Europe that the PS4 does but they will actually make money on the customers they sell to.
