People only said that about handhelds and, well Vita. Alos 3DS is selling very well but it is well behind 3DS. So the over all handheld console market will shrink dramatically, partly due to smartphones and tablets. Wii U was a bit written off because the tablet controller was nothing particularly new or exciting because tablets had been around a while, and the tablet controller hasn't given Wii U much of a sales edge.

Also launch week sales and even these holiday sales aren't a good indicator of long term sales potential. Many analysts are pickin 7th gen to be the highest selling gen, with 8th gen coming up short and starting a long term decline in the console hardware market. I agree. So this decline, if analysts and I are right, will be partly down to tablets and smartphones.

I read a analys that say ps4 and xboxone will be the last generation of console,one generation isn't enougth to say handheld will be dead,xbox360 sold well despite the first one fail ,Nintendo make gamecube and fail but wii sold well,this generation handheld market shrink but i don't think the next will shrink again.
