This thread is kinda silly. I think the bitching over "late ports" was titles like Batman, Ninja Gaiden and Mass Effect, titles that were in some cases a year old and being offered cheaper on existing platforms. These games made it seem like there were lots of titles available at launch for Wii U, but there really wasn't much worth while.
Of course the 3rd party titles for PS4 launch did 2-4X as well as the 3rd party titles for Wii U launch - they don't have much first party competition. Both systems saw an attach rate of around 2.5 titles, but in Wii U's case Nintendoland was included in over 2/3s of the systems while NSMBU was purchased by something like 80% of buyers. There is not many dollars left over for other games. Titles like COD are regulated to second-tier, while on PS or XBox platforms they take the lead. Weak titles Killzone or Knack do not entice many customers.
The weak first party presence on the Playstation platform is certainly a factor in 3rd party support, but I'm not quite sure what the point is.
If one wants to celebrate Playstation and bash Nintendo there are some great opportunities right now - the huge 1st week for PS4 being one - but 3rd parties selling double or more while 1st parties perform far worse doesn't seem like a good place to start.
