in terms of market share, total sales, or both?

sales, market share i don't kow it's depends of how xboxone will do.

X1 will be a much tough competitior in the long run, this won't be a PS2 generation all over again even if Sony wins (likely on the strength of Europe).
For all the flak the X1 is getting, and I do expect a slower start because of the price point, I think X1 is probably the console that's the more transformative for the industry.
It's the first game console that really integrates with the television and has a controller less interface, I think it will change what people expect from consoles.
Sony is basically going to copy what MS does IMO over time, but MS is clearly taking the lead in this regard IMO.

I don't think integration of the television will sale XboxOne and casual will be happy with their xboxone and kinect 1 and will not buy xboxone for kinect 2,just like causal buy wii but don't buy wii u.
And Playstation is as big as xbox in America, yes xbox360 outsold ps3 but it's behind ps2 and maybe ps1.

I think MS is going to win the "jock" audience in North America, and sports/football is a huge part of the culture here.

I really do think too the TV features on the XB1 are pretty revolutionary in terms of how people with the system will simply do day to day things on their TV with. If it works like it shows on the TV spots ... MS is in business IMO. Stuff like that will have people talking around their water cooler at work. Even the PS4 it feels like just another game console, albiet a well executed one, but X1 feels like somethig that transforms the living room.
They will need to get that price down relatively quickly though.

I don't think people care about that they won't buy a more expensive console just for tv integration, first think people care about when they buy a game console is game, the rest they use it just because they already have one.
I also don't think every traditional thing are something bad and every innovation are good.

I think it's good for the average person. Even for me, I have headaches having to explain to my parents to switch inputs to put on a Blu-Ray or how to turn on Netflix.
It'll be so much easier to tell them just to say "XBox On. XBox play Netflix (or play movie)" and boom it just automatically turns the TV on, the XBox on, and changes the proper input.
The hardcore gamer of the house can use it for gaming, but I think it's a true "family" machine (moreso than the Nintendo "kids first" notion of it, which is somewhat dated IMO) in that everyone from the parents to the sister to the jaded 16-year-old can all use it easily. If you have an XB1 I think the TV remote pretty much becomes useless, this is how you interface with your TV now.
It's really actually what Apple should have been working on these last few years, it looks like they actually are by buying the company that made the first Kinect, but for once, MS finally beat them to a big idea (all it took was investing 10 years in a gaming division, lol).
